Default Upgrade to external ignition coil???

Is it worth it to upgrade to an external ignition coil, or should I just stick with OEM parts? I was thinking MSD distributor cap with the external coil. I don't see the need to upgrade the whole ignition.

Also, what wires/plugs would be a good choice?

Thanks!

I wouldn't bother with the ignition unless you have high mileage or running boost or nitrous.

You won't gain any power for the 300$ you spend.

I have the MSD external coil (blaster2) and the MSD cap.I really haven't noticed any benefit but it was only like 90 bucks for both..unless you include my 160 dollar nology wires which are a ripoff IMHO.
I agree with the nitrous or F/I use though...the stock coil just might not cut it.
What are your current mods/plans for future?
I use ZEX plugs because of the nitrous but many people use NGK iridiums I think. As far as wires go just get a good name brand set and you'll be fine.Wires won't increase performance no matter what their ads may say but they will prevent a loss of performance from poor quality wires.

I only have an intake and exhaust so far. It's a 96 Accord EX, 2.2L, 84,000 miles. I have been noticing a slight missing at high speeds. It might even be more of a lull. I've never really run the A/C until lately (I've only had the car a year), so that could be the primary culprit.

I'm getting close to my 90,000 miles, so I was going to do the plugs, cap and wires anyway. I had my timing belt and water pump done at 74,000. I was never notified about the recall on the balancer shaft oil seal, so it backed out on me. I had them do the belt and pump when I had that fixed (ran me ~$600 total).

On a related note, should I change out my O2 senors now, or hold off until I have a problem with them?

Thanks Again!

I don't think there is really a maintenance interval for O2 sensors so most don't worry about it until it goes bad or they notice their gas mileage go down a bit. But if you do want to change it , go here http://oxygensensors.com/ .
They have oem sensors for 80 bucks or just go with the universal for 50 bucks.I got mine there (universal) and they ship 2nd day air so you get them quick.

i have a 91 accord and i switched to the 93' cap and rotor with msd external coil i noticed the engine ran smoother and sounded better, and my spark plugs went from being covered in black soot(weak ignition), they are now perfectly light grey.
the best part is i spent 30$ on the msd coil, and 13$ for the stock 93 cap

Mine seems to miss more now.I'm thinking it's becuase of the ZEX plugs though. But i figured that the MSD coil would have no problem firing colder plugs.

Check your spark plugs.. they may need to be changed.. and also make sure they're the right heat range. I have about the same mileage and ran into a problem with my plugs.. come to find out they were one step colder.. (6's). I put NGK-R 5's in and my missing problem has vanished.
