They will tick like injectors or out-of-spec valve lash but louder.

damn, looks like I have bad LMAs... I've done like 15 valve adjustments and still never went away. How much would a set run me, and could I use thicker oil as a temp fix so I can drive my car home this weekend? Currently running 10w40

Since it is dicey buying used ones, expect to pay upwards of $300 from the dealership. You could also use the cheaper Prelude ones if you shim them with a washer. There is plenty of information on this site about the proper sized washer, if you are so inclined.

You could bandaid it but I think you will be fine driving how it is as long as you intend to replace them very soon. I drove a long time with bad LMA's before I replaced them and beyond the annoying ticking, no damage was done.

hmm, so i could at least drive it, and get it tuned like that? i down graded in cams, and its running rich as hell, but i wont have enough money to get it tuned if i replace the LMA's soon.

ill shop around, and see what i do.
