youll need a tool like that, along with a slide hammer and air tools to get the needed amount of force. ive had a wheel bearing replaced without a press before but honestly, its just easier to spend $30 to find a shop with a press and do it right, and quicker. so consider that before spending $300 on tools to DIY.

the most annoying thing is when the inner race is stuck on the hub. you definitely need a good puller and maybe a cut off wheel to get it off. it helps to have a too llike this too.

here's a good thread showing the procedure with at Hubtamer kit.

The Hub Shark is a good set, but if you use it a lot, you will find yourself replacing the threaded rods quite often. I do about 10-15 wheel bearings a month, and a rod lasts me about 3 months..... (of course I use it off other crap too XD)

I personally prefer to remove the knuckle and use a save-align tool to put it back in correctly. I use the old bearing races from other cars to pound most of them out now, at no cost (a plus). The only sucker is the inner race, 99/100 times it will stick, requiring lots of heat and a railroad tie or a chisel to take it off.

To remove race on the hub hit it with an air hammer to seperate, then use "lady slipper/pinion pry bars(2) to pry it off. I have done this many times. Have also just used the air hammer to get it off.

Either way takes less than 2min.

I just used a dremel to make a slice in it but not all the way then hit it with a chisel or air chisel and it cracks and pops off

good idea..
No sense in buying a tool your only going to use once when you've got a hook-up.
