i have an 96 rs integra and the alternator went out on it. im having a hard time finding the right one. ive been through 4 different stores and 8 different alternators. every altrernator that i find has a square connector on it and the one out of my car has a round, ovalish connector. any ideas?

Most of the time when alternators go bad all it is are the little 5 dollar brushes inside of them. They get wore down and need to be replaced, its fairly easy to tell by looking at them if thats the issue. It will save you lots of money and you can keep your old alternator.

brushes wont fix the problem. the whole unit needs to be replaced.

 

Did you check with any salvage yards? I got one online for $50. 4 yrs and about 50k miles later its still works fine.
