Default Help Shock Knock!

Alright, searched everywhere I imagined and no luck...
So I've got shock knock, and I've completed the procedure here:

http://www.superhonda.com/forum/f146...-fixed-248073/

...but the knock still exists, in my case, the same driver's side rear.

Here's the Honda Service Bulletin for those of you who still aren't clear:

http://members.shaw.ca/FifthGenTSB1/...ck%20Knock.gif

So what I was wondering is, what else could be wrong? I didn't buy the service part simply because it's the same part already on the vehicle just shorter, so I just shortened my existing collar the necessary 2-3 mm. As of now I'm still stumped and I still believe the culprit is the upper control arm, since after multiple visual inspections, it is clear the bushing is rotting on the ball joint unevenly due to 205,000 miles, and going over bumps side-ways in the like. I just want to know your guys experiences with this and what you did to fix it, and what the problem could be. Help me out.

This car has treated me well, but shock knock has just been getting to me. Sounds like the whole car wants to fall apart back there.

Just some info you guys might find useful:

205,000 miles
Tanabe Sustec Pro SS Coilovers (about 100,000 + miles on these)<----(could be why)
all other suspension components = OEM factory

Finally a pic of it..

Are your LCA bushings in good shape? Worn LCA bushings in my Civic made it sound like my suspension was going to fall off.

Sorry to get off topic, but what size tires are you running? or are you using wheel spacers?

The car looks sweet btw!

I'd be willing to bet it is control arm bushings. You can buy a set of polyurethane bushings for the whole car from Summit for pretty cheap. My car had some crappy elliptical camber kit on it when i got it that was causing shock knock. Replaced with Ingalls and poly bushings, no more shock knock.

Try checking the upper bushings on the swaybar endlinks...

Those are the SH rims, and I'm on the stock 205/50/16. No wheel spacers, just rims.

But back to the subject, I'm guessin signs are pointing to replacing bushings.
slamdlude, you said poly bushings? how have those held up? any squeaking or what not? i read a forum somewhere where guys were ranting about poly vs. rubber..blah blah. just want to know how poly is working for you, and if it's worth it to get it or not? since its apparent OEM can stand abuse for over thousands of miles.

maybe the metal is fatigued, but the noise is less harsh now...thinking about shortening it a little more, maybe another 1 or 2 mm. But yeah if you are buying it, let me know. I think I'm gonna buy the part also if shortening it doesn't help any, and replace my bushings.

When I bought my car it had worn out shocks and rubber bushings. I replaced the bushings with energy suspension polyurethane and the shocks with tokikos it made a huge difference. If you don't like squeaky suspension don't get poly. Mine squeaks, not bad, but with the radio off driving slow you can hear it. Radio on, even low, no squeak. They have held up very well. They have been in for about 25k or so. I had some stuff apart not long ago and they looked like new. A good friend of mine has had poly on his car for over 150k and they look almost like new.
I don't know what the new stock feeling of my car was so I couldn't really tell you if it feels better compared to new stock but it definitely feels better than worn out stock. I like the way it handles. Feels like it's on rails. I'm sure the springs and shocks helped that a little bit too. Plus poly is cheaper than stock. I bought a press and put them in myself for less than stock bushings from honda cost.
