The hatch head lights will fit but I'm pretty sure you'll need to utilize the sedan metal housings. The comment about the corner lights is also true and the sedan 88/89 corners (and headlight housings) are different then the 90/91 however you can make them interchangeable with some modifications.

88-89 civic/crx corner lights are held in by two screws.

90-91 civic/crx corner lights are held in by one screw, which is located 'inside' the engine bay. [notice the small tab]

these are for crxs, but the mounting are the same with the civic hatch/sedan.
the headlights on the other hand, for usdm models, all the glass headlights are the same, but uses a different corner light and metal mounting bracket. they differ from years and model.

the crx/hatch front ends are different from the sedans. and the 80s and 90s are different too. all stated above.
what are you trying to do, just straight replace it? if thats the case, get 91 sedan parts and it will fit correctly.

ugh have you seen the difference first hand? they will fit fine as long as you get either 88-89 headlights+ corners, or the 90-91+corners.
this is to solve any arguments, disagreements, and debate about the headlight fitment on the 88-91 civic 3/4dr and 88-91 crx

7. notice that both the jdm crx headlight and jdm hatch headlight are the same.
8. notice that the jdm sedan headlight has the corner light and headlight as a 1-piece design.
9. notice that both the jdm crx and jdm hatch headlight uses one light bulb.
10. notice that the jdm sedan headlight STILL uses two light bulbs? [correct me if im wrong]

Ok so yes 91 sedan lights work in a 89 hatchback. I will post some photos soon. I found the light assembly to be the biggest problem.

So I took 1992 sedan headlights out of the light bracket mount. I switched up the actual lights and the bracket mounts so they would work with my 1989 side lights.
