WOW...you should just get an R and spend a little less on certain things like the mounts, plugs and wires, $320 stage 1 clutch, and you still will be at the same grand total. Just an idea.

I would suggest saving yourself the shipping on certain things. Go to dealership and ask if they can match the cost inline4 is gonna charge you, if not beat it. The dealerships parts department will work for you as business is tight.
Local parts shops can get your plugs and wires and save you the shipping charge. Just ask if they can beat the price.
You don't even have to drive to dealership or local parts shop first, you can call and find out if they will work with you.
Getting a Type R engine for a little bit more would be worth the slightly higher cost. If your not going to add any FI the ITR is the way to go!

i did look into the tri headers but i heard that you have to cut the b-pipe and do a couple of other custom things. But if im getting a whole new exhuast setup would it really matter?

Usually those headers come with a pipe that you can cut and weld to fit correctly onto the midpipe. Unfortunately, you will have to eliminate your catalytic converter with most of those style headers, so maybe you will want to stay away from them. Good luck!

you should've gotten a tri-y replica header for 400 bucks shipped that'll probably do you better then that apexi, and also, should've went with coppers for the plugs instead

Or you could just sell that car and buy a newer gsr with the cash you get from that plus what you're gonna spend on the swap and save alot of work and possible headaches. Are you gonna do the work yourself or pay a shop to swap it for you? If you're gonna pay a shop it's gonna cost even more to get it done and by the time you're done you could have a 1998-2001 gsr with less miles on the chassis and suspension and if you look probably around or under 80K miles on it. People are selling stuff cheap nowadays since everyone is broke.

Already have looked into that and financially this would be a little easier.

if i remember right your engine will come with mounts. the $40 energy inserts will keep them alive. hasports are great but you can shave some money with this build. the clutch you get with the engine will also likely be fine if you buy the whole combo. exhaust wise, well they just are expensive. greddy and edelbrock are the only two decent CARB headers made so you basically have to choose one. don't spend $100 on plugs and wires, the ones you get from HMO are fine and new plugs are $8 at the local parts store. same with the password intake. you get a factory GSR intake with your engine. if you have a lot of spare cash you might consider just buying an ITR since 10k will get you a pretty nice one if you shop and make offers.

okay, im probably going to get the energy inserts, but as far as everything else goes ii just wanna put in newer parts on the things that have messed up on me most. Probably wont get the ignition stuff. But I do want a new clutch and as far as exhaust goes im gonna change it up a little. Im planing to get the hytech replica headers off this site, and the little test pipe. I live in SC were emissions aren't a big deal. And the apexi N1. Any other suggestions would be nice!!!

Just go visit the parts department with a list of parts you need and prices you found and where from. The parts department wants your money and they may give you a % off as they give local mechanic shops.

Im actually planning on doing this sometime this week hopefully. Ill let you guys know if i get any good prices. Also any info on the energy suspension mounts would be cool!

btw, ive been thinking a little on the whole me not doing the swap. My mom is still sayin that she would pay someone to do the swap but not install some of the parts. I was wondering, how easy would it be for me to install a clutch on the motor when its right out of the crate. I know it can be a pain when the motor is installed, I was thinking it would be really easy for me to install the OEM tensioner, water pump, and the Timing Belt, as well as the clutch. (Keeping in mind im still pretty new to the game!) lol.

The energy suspension torque mounts pictured here on summit racing are what I used. I ripped the previous torque mounts and had to buy new oem ones and added these to make them more sturdy. Easy to install with the engine removed. One goes in the back ablove the tranny against the firewall and the others somewhat near the front wheels on the frame. Look up engine mounts on an exploded diagram to get and idea of where they go. My car vibrates a little bit at idle, enough to slightly rattle my change on occasion in the change tray.
Clutch is ~8 bolts to detach tranny from engine, then you gotta remove flywheel which holds clutch/pressure plate, and take it to be resurfaced at a local machine shop (look in phone book, call for pricing ~$30-50)), then re-install using factory spec torque guide lines. It is pretty simple once you see it.
Go pick up a manual for your car (or find it online), best $20-$100 you can spend on your car to understand what your doing!

shopping list sounds good, looks like you will have a nice running motor, just later buy a Type R valve train and a ecu up grade and it will be sexy...

For $5600, why don't you just seek a '94 GSR with decent mileage? You can sell your current car.
