Flat Black Prelude
I am really thinking about sanding down my car and fixing my body work and hopefully finding someone who has a rear bumper for sale, since mine is cracked and painting it flat black, i was just wondering what everyones opinions are on this, have they seen one before or what?

i think flat-black is a coo color but it will most deff make your dings and dents stand out. and i think flatback on a car will not look as good as having it on large suv..i think a flat-black h2 wit sum 30"s on it will look ****in outragiously sick..then we'll talk
i think yall are all pretty much right, the person who had the car before me had some body work done on the car and they sucked at it and it looks like crap right now so that is really the reason i am going to do it but then later on when i can afford it, i will get it painted if i even keep the car that long.
Roll on paint. Go with a normal color man. Wet sanding and good prep work and the finish can come out decent. Trust me. Its only done when you say your done. You do lots a light coats, lots of wet sanding and in the end if you want a super clear finish have a shop shoot some clear coat on her.
Getting a paint job is not that much money. Its prep work and body work that soaks up lots of labor hours. If you can find a way to cut labor, a paint job is only 300-400 dollars at a mediocore shop. Do your own taping/masking too. That saves a few hours of labor and it will get done right (if you care enough)
Lots of DIY notes in H-t for painting. If your tight on money or would rather make your car go rather than show, than DIY is your best friend. I rolled my bumper after a plow shaved off a huge streatch of paint (after about 4 hours of prep work/sanding/body filler(NOT BONDO)DON"T USE BONDO) and the finish looks perfect. No clear coat yet, but its very glossy. The surfice you prime has to be perfect though. The smoother it is the more factory like/reflectent the paint job is going to turn out.
OH..one thing too that I found. I used rust bullet (for those with rust) and did an exact comparison to using regular rust primer. Rust bullet has lasted a year with no problems what so ever. Rust primer lasted a week. So for all you wanting to do rust work all you need to do is sand it down (rid yourself of loose debris) and apply a few coats of rust bullet using a roller. Sand, wet sand, and paint. Away ya go. Go look in cosmetic section though either way. Like I said, lots of good info. Any specific question even feel free to ask me. I'm getting pretty good at body work from a DIY perspective.
