Default Car making whistling noise while on has pedal

Hello,

I just noticed today when I put my foot on the gas I hear a whistling type noise coming from the car. However, when I put my foot on the break the noise stops. What can it be? Its an 2002 Honda Civic with about 250k on it

Thanks

I hear it from inside - could be from outside the car not sure - I left the car on in park and there was no noise just only when its on the gas - I also hear a clunking noise as well

if it's coming through the speakers, it's a grounding issue....other than that, the only advice I can give without hearing it is check your drive belt or maybe you have a super stealth turbo you just don't know about yet...lol jk.

I'm with Dan, sounds symptomatic of an aftermarket intake, unless you give us more information to go off of.

I had a similar situation which was caused by an exhaust flange leak. ONly when stepping on the gas too...

Did you get it fixed and did it solve the problem? What exactly was fixed and how much did it cost?

It would be best if you could isolate where this whining noise is coming from...I mean, there's a lot of things that could make a whining noise. It would suck to spend money fixing something that someone on here recommends and have it not be the issue at all.

have you had the alternator replaced? also check your a/c belt tensioner. if you want you could have meineke peek under the hood at your belts to see if they're prematurely warped. if you haven't replaced the alternator then the bearing might be the cause of the noise.
