Default B16 cable tranny's

Does any one know which b16a cable tranny has the shortest gears? y1, j1, or s1 that came in the ef9 sir or the ys1 lsd or ys1 non lsd that came in the 92-93 integra xsi?

Y1 is the only b16 i think YS1 is a GRS tranny and j1 and s1 are ls trannys..... so the shortest one is the Y1 i have had all those trannys and the only one i like is the Y1 which is the one i have right now....

I have a Y1 with an LSD in my b16. Very short gears, cruising down the highway at around 75 or 80 I'm usually sitting around 4,500 rpm. Vtec hits(5k) in fifth gear at 90 mph. To answer your question, yes an LSD tranny is better than non-LSD, I added mine to the order when I got my motor from HMotors.

S1, Y1 are B16 tranny's and only the vtec model YS1 tranny's found on usdm 92-93 GSR's or jdm 91-92 Integra's of which only "some" had the lsd option. It is for sure the best option for a B16 as it has very short gears, uses the larger mainshaft like newer hydro model gearboxes, as well as having the option to buy new parts needed over the counter in the US if needed. JDM S1 and Y1 tranny's do not have numbers that cross over and can't be purchased at US dealers.

Hello, look like everybody here have b16 with Y1 LSD tranny. I need help here, I just finish swapping the b16 with Y1 tranny in my 90 civic si. But the car make noise when turning, and the steering rattle alot. Found out that the passenger side axle is to thight, look like it's too long. I've been browsing alot, but nobody talking bout the passenger side. anybody know shat else should I do to fix it. Btw I use Hasport EFBAX Y1 axle. Thank you

well my friend had the same problem.. he thought it was the righ side axle that was too short..... he took it to the shop and added an extra inch to it.... after putting it back it did the same problem and it came out to be the tranny!!!!!! did you change the bearings on the tranny or atleast lubricated them????

^^ I think the biggest problem people have with that tranny is the weird size intermediate shaft it comes with. I would think the best solution would be to get a regular usdm 90-93 integra shaft and drive axels and call it a day.
