Default Ignition Problem After Alarm Removal

so, heres the deal... car was working just fine and out of nowhere one day i go to start the car and upon turning the key the whole car dies and the alarm starts to go off, only with very weak power sounding the alarm, almost quieter than normal speech. first determination: bypass the alarm by removing it. so today as i am removing the alarm system i first locate the alarm control module, remove the large connector coming from the alarm harness, and follow it to a connector coming off of the car's wiring harness, which i disconnected as well and is the connector in question. where does this connector go back to on the car?

I have all accessories powered and working fine (headlights, dash, interior lights etc). However , when i go to turn the key to start the car, the car makes a single click. The battery is fully charged.

I was just going over some of the wiring diagrams supplied by spoonhonda.com. I began to wonder. Did all 5th gens come with an alarm system (aside from the immobilizer)? If you look at file 17465.pdf, on the Security Control Unit (bottom left) it says there's pins for disarm, valet control etc. The alarm that was on the car when i bought it used was a pursuit (owned by audiovox).

Anyone? Thanks!

When you located the ACU, did you disconnect ALL wires to it, or just the 1? If just the 1, try disconnecting them all, meanwhile disconnecting the battery. Wait a few seconds and reconnect. Worked for me.

Thanks for the reply.

The alarm is all but disconnected from the car completely. I've had numerous problems throughout the years, so i thought this was a sign of the alarm crapping out. Therefore, the ACU (alarm control unit right?) has been completely disconnected and removed. Is the factory wiring designed specifically to incorporate an alarm system? (ie can i have no alarm system on the car?)

Thanks in advance.

The problem may depend on how the alarm was hooked up. They usually come with a "starter-kill" type switch to disable the ignition from starting.

Now, MOST alarms use an NC (normally closed) relay, so that when the alarm is not activated, the ignition system is still connected normally. BUT, on some model alarms, the relay is a built-in, and disconnecting the ACU would leave you with an open circuit for the ignition wires.

What model alarm did you have?
