stupid question

Default stupid question

ok heres a stupid question but im sure everyone has come across this problem. ive searched on here and have seemed to not come up with anything. i have a 96 sohc civic and the alternator is shot. went to change it and of coarse couldnt get the bottom bolt out. tryed heating it, tried beating it with a hammer. nothing. anyone have any tips on what else to do. im on like hour number 3 on changing a damn alternator and its startin to **** me off. any help would be appreciated

Have you tried wiggling the alternator while pushing the bolt out?

I had that same proplem a year ago with my '96.

I ended up removing the two bolts that holds the alt. bracket to the block. PITA with the alt. still mounted.

alternator wont move at all. i have the top bolt out to. and the bottom left bolt is stripped from somone before me. if i get this bolt out im puttin a regular damn bolt in

try a nut splitter ,its old fashion but works

ok i had to do one in a 96 it was a big pain in the *** i did everything u did i ended up drilling it out went to honda fora new bolt make sure u aintsezie it to!

I've been there before numerous times, i've even seen one extreme case where the case broke, the bolt bent and it still wouldn't move. When you put it all back together use lots of neversieze on the new bolt.
