Default Transmission or throttle problem

All,

as of Saturday I have noticed my transmission isn't engaging after I shift. It kinda feels like my clutch is slipping but I only have 51K on the 06 Si. Also I don't ride the clutch. The main symptom I have been noticing, is after switching gears, lets say 5th to 6th, and accelerating my revs shoot up but my car doesn't accelerate. Also one other thing I noticed today, which may or may not be related, is when in cruise I can't accelerate the car with the steering wheel controls. When I try to it just disengages the cruise. I was thinking this maybe related but if it is this seems almost like a control module problem. Has anyone had this problem?

Here is a quick test.

Engage your parking brake, put the car in 5th gear, then start letting the clutch out while lightly revving the engine, if the car dies, your clutch is good, if the RPM stay constant or rise when you give it more gas while still releasing the clutch then it's slipping or you have an issue with the linkage.

Ok, I have tried that and my revs began dropping, so I am wondering if it is not a problem with a control module. Since the issue with my cruise disengaging when attempting to accelerate with the steering wheel controls and this problem began at the same time. Is it possible I have issues with the DBW and the ECU? I am going to have to make an appointment with the dealership. If this isn't related to a consumable item, it should be covered under my remaining warranty or at worst my extended warranty.

Has anyone else had a problem with the clutch prematurely having to be replaced? Also I am looking for others whom had problems not associated with abuse.

From what you describe it sounds like a clutch on the way out. What happens when you get on it in 3rd and 4th when you get on the gas? Does it rev like 5th and 6th without accelerating?

Cruise probably is automatically shutting off for some reason when the clutch starts slipping. Does it shut off when you get to a hill?

I've read of a few clutches failing with much less mileage than yours, but not too many. I plan on replacing the clutch when i get my third gear fixed just for peace of mind.
