Icon2 shorter shocks for a crx?

I am new to this site and am curious what shocks from other hondas will fit a crx that are about 1 inch shorter? I read that 88 accord front shocks are 1 inch shorter and a little bit stiffer than crx shocks for oem replacements. What about eg shocks/struts? Also post pics of your rex too if you want. thanks guys

eg shocks will work, but you need the shock 'forks' for the front from an eg.
because the crx forks have a thinner hole, for the shock to sit in.

using eg shocks will make it a little stiffer, cause its heavier.

Thanks your right about that. Its just with stock shocks and adjustable coilovers or even any spring drop of at at least 2 inches will bottom out at times when pulling out of parking lots/speed bumps.

You can get the skunk2 shocks they are shorter and made for a CRX.

EG shocks are longer than CRX shocks; don't think you'd want to use those unless you're raising the upper mount.

This is how low my Civic is(built with parts from my old CRX ) with the 89 Accord front shocks, cut stock front springs, and shock lower mount moved up about an inch. Stock 88-91 springs are too long to fit so you have to cut them(trust me, I tried to avoid cutting) or use aftermarket springs).

For reference, this is how low it hangs when jacked up:

Thats a big difference when its jacked up definitely a lot shorter. On a different crx I had before I had kyb gr2 shocks with sprint springs 3.25" drop and it bottom out sometimes over bumps but rode ok not to bouncy.

I wonder are the 89 accord front shocks valved beefier for the heavier accord? The rears are the same size though correct?

Piston, don't know if you are aware or not, but extended tophats are a great way to reclaim some shock travel on lowered hondas. There are some write-ups on here about homemade ones, or you can buy them aftermarket.

Post some links for extended tophats to buy. I dont see how an extended top hat on the spring would give me more shock room with out it raising my car. That seems to be similar to just adjusting my coilovers. I have oem shocks with adjustable coilovers.

The extended top hats don't affect the spring, only the shock absorbers. They relocate the the upper damper mount higher.

yeah, that is a DIY type (a pretty good price, IMO), you should ask that dude, he's probably made some for CRX before. Ground Control makes extended top hats but they definitely cost more.
