03 DC5 coming out of storage - idle issues
Hey guys,
I'm taking my brothers Integra R out of storage, and I've noticed a weird idling problem. It's been in storage for just over 4 months. The battery had been taken out and trickle charged all this time, with the wheels all jacked up.
I've put the battery back in, and obviously brought the car back down - went to start it, and everything started fine.. but after about 2 minutes the car started to "breathe".. basically reving up to 2.5k and dropping back to 1k while in idle. It drives fine, gear changes and all power options work, but when the car is coming to a stop or gets slow enough, the "breathing" starts again.
I'm a complete noob.. What's wrong here? It was fine when it went into storage, so I don't understand what could've changed??

Theres a little valve under neath the throttle body. If the car sits for mroe then 2 weeks the valve usually get sticky and causes the car to do that. Its called the idle air control valve.
What about gas? Did you put fresh gas in it. Add some seafoam into the gas tank to help stabalize it and put some fresh gas in it after storing it.
Those idle air control valves cause a lot of problems for people. I hate them sometimes

Hey guys,
That seems to have done the trick (culmination)
New 100RON fuel and allowing the ECU to "remember" how to idle properly at first didn't make much difference... Changed the oil then took it for a spin around the block for about an hour.. idling steadily around 2000rpm.. left it, then took it out for a night prowl and jumping onto the freeway for some higher speeds
It's purring nicely now!
Thanks guys!
Still a shame there isn't any seafoam around down here... hmmm.. market potential?
