I found a metal ring that came with the flywheel, it goes in the center hole of the flywheel. Is it of any importance?

No, not the bearing. It's more like a metal collar that gets pressed into the center of the flywheel. I really hope it's useless because it really looks it. It's pressed in the center of the stock flywheel. I believe it came with the clutch kit, I don't recall the Fidanza lightweight flywheel uses that.

That is whats known as a pilot bushing.
That is used in place of a pilot bearing in some cases.
On my F150 it uses a bearing pressed into a bushing to make sure everything stays tight and in place.

In any event, is this something that is worth taking the tranny apart again and installing into the flywheel? I already have the engine in the car and running, haven't noticed any tranny problems.
