Default Stock Gsr 300whp turbo build **ADDED PICS**

So i have been planning my turbo build for over a year now. I've done tons of research, and filled out alot of compressor maps. In it couple months i will have the money to finally finish buying all of my parts at once. My turbo goals are 250 - 280whp ,and around 190 - 230 torque.

A few questions though. Do i need an FPR, ive heard different things about them. And ive heard people say that you shouldn't run more than 8 psi on a stock gsr motor. But everything i read says its all about whp. And that stock gsr motors can handle up to 300whp pretty safely So lets say it takes 10psi to reach my goal. Is that safe for my motor with a conservative A/F ratio.

Parts to buy

GT2860RS with T3 exhaust from synapse
Precision 550cc injectors
walbro fuel pump
Tial 38mm wastegate
ARP Headstuds
AEM Wideband o2 sensor and gauge
Custom intercooler piping
oil return, and oil taps
water feed, and return
boost gauge
oil temp gauge
oil press gauge
halfsize radiator
downpipe
competition stage 4 clutch
Magnacor 8.5mm spark plug wires
NGK 7 spark plugs

Parts I already have

Manifold
Intercooler
oil feed line
turbonetics bov
2.5" custom exhaust

and if the money will allow

gsr or ls tranny
quaife lsd
aftermarket flywheel - not sure of brand or style
hasport motor mounts
hondata otherwise will tune with chrome
3" greddy exhaust

Let me know what you guys think of my build and how achievable my goals are. Any comments are welcome

thanks

sounds like a nice build. You should have no problems reachin your goal. A good tune and you should be set.

thanks for the comments guys... What is involved in the tuning process, that can make two exact same setups, have completely different whp. How do i get the most out of my turbo setup.

Changes in turbochargers can do that. This is where your tuner comes into play for making the best use of your setup. Be realistic in the turbo's capabilities, and you'll enjoy it a lot more. It can't do 450whp, no matter what you throw at it, so don't try. If you don't know about tuning a car yourself, now is not the time to try to learn. I understand some people believe that learning yourself is the ONLY way, but if this is your only car, with this much invested, look to the professionals on this first time out.

Thanks for the comments guys. Does anyone know what the best way would be to run my oil feed and return line. I will also need one a line for my oil pressure gauge. Then i need to run two more lines for the water coolant lines to the turbo. and what is the best way about doing this. Are there particular sizes i should be using or just anything.

I have a Stock internal JDM B18c GSR. She was daily driven for 3 years on 7psi making 270whp and recently making 370whp at 14psi for the last year, not daily driven. I maintain it well and don't beat the crap out of it. I have been to the track three times with her. No major problems with her, just tiny stuff. Good luck with everything! Check out evans-tuning.com Jeff is the man when it comes to tuning turbo hondas!

Should not be a problem man. I put down 311 with a bone stock GSR with 160,000 miles. Just a peakboost kit(GT3076) 10psi and a good tune.

few cars ive tuned
stock interal gsr w/ gt30r made 401
stock internal gsr w/ gt35r made 415
stock internal b16 w/ 30r made 350
stock internal b16 w/ 67mm made 430

300 should be effortless. all of those set ups were daily driven and are still running. some of them were tuned a couple of years ago. how the car is driven is just as important as the tune IMO.

I would def get that 3" exhaust for more power out of it, otherwise you'll have to retune it when you get it.

thanks a lot guys. Im really looking forward to doing this build. The first thing i have to complete though is my jdm front end conversion, Anyone know where i can get one cheap.

Im hoping to spend no more than 1600 on the jdm front end conversion. I'll be doing all the welding and work myself.

Check out the MarketPlace for that sort of thing.

Good luck on your setup, 300 shouldn't be a problem.

well im hoping for the max to be 300whp, i want a reliable safe car, this is my dd. I don't want to risk blowing my motor. Plus im hoping to get a very nice powerband with the tune, a good average whp. Not just a high peak whp but a good staight power curve. Sorry if i explained that weird

Any stock car can be made reliable if its tuned right and if it's not overboosted like crazy. I had LS with 11psi on stock motor with 140,000 and the car ran great. I didn't see what you will use for tunning, but I used chipped ecu and map from http://www.j-k-tuning.com/. He provided me with chip that was completely tunned, and my setup was almost the same as his, and I'm sure he has one for gsr. I ran without any problems for 9 months before i sold the car. And this was my daily driver on 11psi. Never had any problems and the car ran great, just like the stock. But if you have someone close to you who tunes cars then you can probably take it there and tune it a little better.

i had a stock gsr with 333whp at 16psi for almost 2 years until it got stolen, no motor problems whatsoever. Just make sure you have a good tune. I had a SC50 tuned by st00pid.

awesome well again thanks everyone for reassuring my thoughts. I am definitely going to try and boost to 300whp. I will probably get my car tuned at king motorsports using an s200 or s300. If not there then at speedquest using chrome.

Has anyone had experience with either of these companies if so what was your car tuned on, and how has your car ran since then. Also what turbo you're running, your whp and torque marks, as well as how much psi you're running.

thanks
matt

You're definitely on the right path. You're going to get mixed responses from people and their individual experiences with X part.

Def will be a sick setup for the street when you're done
