Default Adam's 4th gen Riced out Restoration

Well i seems that when the server was changed every single thread i created has be lost including my build thread. I made a comment about it but that doesn't seem to have had any success in bringing it back, so i figure i'll just start a new one from where i currently am.

The plans for the car are as followed

***COMPLETE*** - Strip the entire car down including the suspension
- Auto to 5 speed swap
- Redo the suspension
- Restore the interior
- Fix rust and repaint the exterior (will be professionally painted)
***COMPLETE*** - Wire tuck and engine bay shave
***COMPLETE*** - Delete all the accessorie harnesses
- Strip sound deadening, remove oxidization from floor boards, re-seal ,replace with aftermarket material
- Delete ABS and install Non abs components, CC, A/C, PS, Evap, EGR
- Build my new h22
- Install a form of induction
- Tune by spring/summer 2009

Hope you guys enjoy reading about the build. I have much more work ahead of me.

I sold off my old prelude to my brother to take on this project and fund most of it. I found a local prelude that was in need of some TLC and picked it up for a great price of $640.

My old lude and my new purple beast

As you can clearly see it is riced to ****town. It was involved in an attempted theft. The ignition got completely fubar'd to top it off.

I ended up selling all the ricer parts off very quickly and made some good trades which landed me with all oem parts in perfect condition and cash on top of it all. I got to work pretty quickly and removed the engine, stripped the interior down and got the project started.

Old H23 with a thrown rod

Parts started to pile up that i had taken out. That pile actually was alot bigger than it looks at the end of pulling crap off the car. It filled an entire truck bed of an s10. There was about double that in the end.

After everything was deleted and the engine bay washed down.

Engine bay getting prepped, sanded etc

Finished and ready for Priming

Primed

Painted (still need to do a few small touch up's) Really sorry for the terrible quality, the lighting is just brutal in the garage and trying to take a picture of black is really difficult. I'll be getting a new camera soon. Also, that mess on the rad support on the driver side is from missing some grease i think. It gets covered by the bumper support so i really don't care about fixing it.

A quick snapshot of some of the parts (about 1/3rd of what i own already), some parts are now not still there and were sold off...

The next stage of the build consisted of fixing the wiring mess that the previous owner made of the ignition harness. With the help of you guys i figured it out and removed the hack job security system and cleaned the mess up. At the same time i redid the headlight harnesses and removed all the unecessary clips from them. In the end i removed over 40-45 lbs of wire and tape (abs/4ws alone was 16lbs!!!)

Example of the driver side harness finished

There are way to many details that were lost and i am not going to bother putting them back in. I will make a seperate thread about the abs removal/custom brake line install, as well one for dropping the gas tank and installing a SS fuel line system.

These are the plans for Sunday and the most recent update

Got an update for you guys. This sunday is the first weekend in such a long time i have nothing to do. I finished all my midterms, class ends in 2 weeks and then i have finals in 4 weeks so this is the weekend to get **** done.

Master cylinder has not shown up in the mail yet, prop valve did show up however. I will be finding out what is taking my master cylinder so long. It has been almost 3 weeks Later today i am going to a local junkyard and getting my brake booster. It is confirmed to be there.

On sunday i am going over to 2ndgenlude's (preludepower.com) house to go pick up my new parts. I am going to go get my 5-speed swap (everything needed), custom 3" exhaust, non 4ws rear subframe, rear upper control arms, some interior pieces, and my new rustless sunroof

The plans on sunday are as follows

-Install ignition harness back into car
-Re-organize the harnesses and ziptie them in a tidy manner
-Finish sanding the remaining oxidization in the floorboards and re-seal
-Finish 5 speed swap
-Install new brake booster
-Install new prop valve
-Install custom hardline brakelines
-Install my new mandrel bend custom 3" exhaust
-Install polyurethane bushings into the front and rear upper control arms
-Install non 4ws rear subframe onto car

I will have pictures up either sunday night or monday depending on how tired i am. Hopefully everything goes smoothly, i have alot of work set out to do on sunday and i want it all out of the way. I really hope my master cylinder shows up today so i can finish the two lines coming from the prop valve and finish the abs conversion once and for all.

^Thanks

the truth is Shutta i don't think i will. I really wanted to for the past few years and after being in and driving a few of my friends turbo honda's, i really think i am just going to stick to my original plans of my last prelude in regards to power. N/A and Juice :D

I can't make up my mind so i am not focusing at all on the power mods right now other than mods that can be used with a turbo or n/a. I just want to get the motor put together, make sure their are no problems and that it runs perfectly stock, and finish the rest of the car. When all of that is done i will make my mind up and either buy the n/a parts i am thinking of and nitrous, or i will piece a turbo kit together. I guess it will be more of a suprise ending for you guys

Nice work man. I gotta give you props for restoring a former rice machine. I don't think I would have the patience to deal with the previous owners hack jobs.

At least your build disappeared on the web and not in reality hey. Anyway good to see you got the good stuff back up. You have made so much progress on this poor riced out prelude since you got it, its great seeing it being rebuilt (if this prelude was alive it would be your be friend for life). Its looking great now. Keep the updates coming man. and goodluck with your continuing work.

Quite the project you have there. Good luck.
What are the plans for the motor itself?

Thanks guys

It is being rebuilt using all OEM honda belts, seals, and gaskets. I have a new OEM honda water pump and oil pump that will be getting installed. I bought a head from someone on these boards that was going to be used in a strokker N/A build. The head has an amazing port and polish job done to it and was deshrouded. It was hot tanked and then fully rebuilt with OEM honda parts, new valve seals and new valve guides. I think i am going to swap out the valve seals and guides though since i have a set of supertech valve seals and valve guides sitting in my closet. I am going to pair this to a stock shortblock and go from there.

This year due to having to build the car from the ground up i really don't have money to build the motor beyond that point. Next winter (2009-2010) i will be building the head and block up for sure and i will for sure be doing an N/A build when i do that, no doubts about that. At the same time i will probably build the transmission up but i might let that wait until summer of 2010. I plan on keeping this car for a long time so i have lots of time to build it up to what i want it to be over the long run For now, i just want to finish the car up and enjoy driving it next season without any problems.

i used a spray can with custom made paint. I took my favourite Honda black NH-503P (grenada black pearl) and had a local paint supply store create a few cans of it. Turned out really well, i just have to do a few small touch up's and i will be 100% satisfied.
