Default SOME FUEL PUMP TRUTH/HELP

okay, so about a week ago i put up a thread about my fuel pump loacation on my 89 ef dx hatch, i got about a 50/50 answer half said its underneath the back seat, like a eg, and half said its under my fuel tank, on saturday i plan on ripping of my fuel tank and doing work, but just to make sure, and fully understand. the people who said it was behind my seat, were they just saying that becasue theres a metal cap over something back there..becasue i called up one of my buddies whose already done one, and i called him because i thought it was true, that the fuel pump was underneath, well he confirmed that it was the floater/sender to tell how much gas is in your tank to the gas gauge.. so idk im gonna post a picture of it, although i never took it out becasue i didnt wanna deal with the floater having to go back in and everything, im pretty sure there would be fuel lines coming from this if it was truley under my back seat... thanks for everyones help, so any comments, replys and suggestions to making this easier will be greatly apprieceiated...F##K THE HATERS!

the fuel pump is located on top the backside of the fuel tank, u need to take out the tank first in order to access it,heres what u do, take off the fuel cap, wiring plug inside the car, drain the tank of all fuel, then jack up the car, remove all hoses, clamps, brackets, etc., then go ahead and take of the nuts holding the two straps, once ur at the last few threads get a jack with some plywood so you don't dent it, and position underneath, drop the tank and you will see 6 nuts holding down the fuel pump bracket.

if i remember correctly the crx has an issue with that metal cap in the backseat, it will give you access to the fuel pump but not enough space to do anything with it, so you'd have to drop the tank some, atleast take off the two bolts holding the straps on the fuel pump end. and instead of draining your fuel tank you can just wait til your gas tank gets to E, it saves you from doing one more thing and some fuel in the tank won't harm anything, pretty simple stuff...good luck

you cannot access the fuel pump from inside the car - not even close - the gauge sending unit, which is below the cover in the floor, is at the front of the tank and the fuel pump is all the way to the rear of the tank, about 2 feet from the sending unit - the only way you can remove the pump is to remove the tank - this is picture of CRX fuel tank
