Default 07 to 09 - Worth it?

Thinking of swapping my '07 Si for the '09. What are the thoughts out there?
Is it worth it?

pretty much. the newer the car, the greater the depreciation. after going through the first 2 years of losing value on the 07, you'll once again be losing a bunch of money on the 09. the older a car is, the slower the depreciation. if the engine was at least more powerful or something, but it's 99% the same car, so...

^ seiously, why?

if you like the styling of the 09 just buy the bumper etc. with the limitation of dbw you're better off waiting to see what honda does in the next generation. maybe aftermarket companies will put out more then.

I agree with you guys. That's why I'm holding on to my '07. Might do the 3rd gear fix during my 20K service.

" with the limitation of dbw " . do you mean drive by wire on the throttle? sorry, not so good with acronyms.

i was in greece this summer and had a chance to sit in the English Type R. Such a sweet looking car.

The English show "Top Gear" test drove it though against the '02 Civic Si hatch. In Europe the '02 Si pushed out 200 horses. The newer Civic Type R has 201 hp. Only 1 hp more. The difference is the new one has a torsion beam set up in the rear suspension. Something they hated. The car was not fun to drive at all compared to the '02 which has an independent rear suspension like our Civics have here. The interior though is something else. The seats were unbelievable. The whole dash set up is very nice.

Not quite. The EP3 had a double-wishbone suspension, and was significantly lighter than the FN2. The FN2 has a torsion beam, whereas the current gen USDM Si, FG2 and FA5 civics, have a trailing arm. Also, the K20A of the EP3 pushed about 212bhp, while the FN2 K20A pushes about 197bhp.

That clip was funny. I'm not sure if the EP3 had the A2 putting out 212, I thought it was 197. Some one please chime in.

you should try to find the video online and watch it. they pushed both cars to the limit on the airstrip track they use and you could see the Euro Type R holding on for dear life.
As far as the hp I got the brochure while I was at a Honda dealer there and it shows 201 hp. Could be PS which translated to Brake HP is a little higher.

I just paid off the 07 and bought an 09 for my wife. The 09 shifts better and has little things that are better for my wife, such as the tire pressure sensors and bluetooth. I do like the front bumper a little more but the chrome on the rear is not so good.

Just get the 3rd gear fixed and keep driving it.

It's still a Honda. It's no Porsche.

To the OP....

DO THAT, all your friends will be the envy that you traded in a car in the middle of a depression for a horrific book value .....only to not be more economical......

But simply for some squarer bumpers.

Kudos to you , for supporting my claim that its not the companies that are messed up, its the citizens.

i'm definitely holding on to my '07. found some sweet Borbet wheels for it too on Tire Rack. I think the model is LV5. I hate the chrome stuff in the back also. What were they thinking adding that? You know with time that stuff will be flaking off.
The video pretty much puts down the Euro Type R. On this side of the pond we have full independent in the back but struts up front. I believe a good set of coil overs can make the car ride like it's on rails. My buddy has a '04 GTi R32 (AWD) with K&W coilovers and 18" wheels. The thing is amazing when it comes to handling.

Just bumper and grill. Fenders are identical, and the only difference between 06-08 headlights, and the 09 headlights is the corner (blinker) reflector is cleared now. But that is internal; the exterior is the same.

What are you trying to say? Are you implying that headlights and taillights are different? Please learn to properly form a sentence.

As I said earlier, the only difference between '08 & '09 headlights is the corner reflector on the inside. Putting an '09 bumper on an earlier 8th gen would not require you to change the headlights for a correct fit. As for the taillights, I am pretty sure they are identical to the earlier ones. If there are any interior (in the taillights) differences, they are minor and I've not noticed them.

The only difference I see is the turn signals...
