Default Quiet exhaust

My exhaust looks like crap kind of hanging off the back, so I'm looking for a nice quiet aftermarket exhaust. I'd prefer it to be a cannister type exhaust because I like the look, but I don't want something loud and raspy that sounds bad. I also don't care much about power gains. I'm thinking the Apex World Sport and Tanabe Hyper Medallion right now, but if there was an N1 looking exhaust that was quiet, I'd prefer that.

By design, "N1" type exhausts will be loud and raspy. There just is nothing there to knock down the sound. If you ever look at them, you can see straight through.

You can always just look on youtube for different clips with the exhausts, there's a ton on there.

Personally I'm trying to find a Apexi WS2 for mine.

That's what I figured. I had straight-thru type mufflers on my Mustang and it sounded really good, but I don't really want this car to be loud.

I've looked on youtube quite a bit, but most of the sound clips suck and 90% of them are the loud exhausts.

Anyone have any experience with the Tanabe Hyper? I also heard the RS*R ExMag was quiet, but I can't seem to find one for an '01 GSR.

The RS*R would be a great choice. Not sure if they make them anymore for our cars though? I liked the older RS*R because of the factory looking finish ( Black canister Polished tip ). I actually got to hear one on a 97 GSR, very quiet exhaust.

I am hoping my exhaust will be almost as quiet ( Spoon Street Type ).

i like apexi WS2, or the noir which i believe is hard to get hand on since i think it is discontinued. Both are quiet as well as stock looking.

I found the tanabe touring medalion is really quiet and low in tone, but its not a can style. Most all the can exhausts tend to be pretty loud and raspy

yea tanabe is also nice, all those exhaust tanabe,ws2,noir, and greddy sp2 look stock with a slightly bigger tip, they do not look like a fart car at all. My favorite out of all those has to be the Apexi WS2.

I've had the following exhausts on my DC2

-Apexi WS2: very quiet, looks good, performs well
-Apexi N1: nice tone but it gets loud when you're going up hill or hard on the throttle
-Trust SP: quiet and has a nice tone
-Greddy SP: quiet and has a nice tone but quality is garbage. Internally fell apart on me in about a year and a half and greddy customer service ignored the issue
-Greddy EVO: just like the n1 but a little quieter through the power ban
-OEM ITR: basically stock with minimal to no gains

I've been using the apexi ws2 the longest out of all of these...no problems with cops and my passengers don't complain about the noise

I have the RS*R ExMag and it is a great quiet exhaust that doesn't draw a lot of attention. It is quiet while cruising and growls when you hit the gas. Quality is excellent and it is also made in Japan.

You are going to have a hard time finding a quiet exhaust with a canister style. However, I hear the Fujitsubo RM01A is moderately quiet with a N1 style muffler.

For bang for your buck, Tenrai

Not the cheapest, not expensive; made very well.

I have an RS*R exmag and i love it. The black can and chrome tip are nice and stealthy and it is super quiet. When you step on it, it has a nice deep tone. Get one if you can find one!

i've had the apexi WS2 and the OEM ITR. WS2 was alright, it's way too restrictive though. they bottle necked everything. the OEM ITR was not bad, like it better cause it was smaller that the WS2, didnt like the WS2 also cause it was soo big ha.

i just picked up a RSR exmag axle back for 80bucks BRANDNEW!!! i was soo lucky to find one. i'll be putting it on in the spring.

if you wanna buy the ITR muffler off me, i have the receipt for it so you get a lifetime warranty. i'm thinking about it though.

Hmm, I think it's pretty much between the WS2 ($450), Tanabe Hyper ($500), and the ExMag ($600). Trying to see if I can find any used...

So if you guys are saying I can run a stock type R exhaust, can I run any of the aftermarket exhausts made for the type R? A lot of specific catbacks I've seen say they are only made for certain years like 97-99 GSRs, 00-01 GSRs, or 97-01 type R's and non GSRs. What is the difference in the exhaust that it won't fit on other cars? Will

I know the 94-99 GSRs had different length catalytic converters so that's what throws them off.
