So what would you do in this situation?
So here is the scenario. I dropped my CRX off with a body shop on November 6th. The guy quoted my $2k for a complete paint job, color change, jams & moldings, etc. The guy does awesome, I mean awesome work. He said he would have the car for a maximum of 2 weeks. The end of this week will be 4 weeks since i dropped it off! I gave him a thousand up front. What do you think I should do about the situation? Should I tell him that I dont want to pay the full price WHENEVER I can finally pick it up?
Note: I have seen the car with it completely ready for paint a week ago, so I know hes done something at least. But when I call him he gives me the run around and yada yada yada. I need my damn car!

if he wrote you a receipt for 2gs you have to pay 2gs no matter what or he is entitled to your car. my dad owns a body shop. if its on paper there is not much you can do other than be patient.
I would talk to him, if he did NOT write out a bill of sale tell him you want a refund and your car back. Very true though, if its in ink its a binded contract he can take his sweet as s time. hope this helps
You would think there is some stipulation in the fine print that prevents the engine builder from having someones car for an inordinate unrealistic amount of time.

only if he put it in there...you can also make your own legal contract and have him sign it giving dates on completion and refunds...but it's too late now, but good to know...
two weeks isn't unrealistic at all. it'll take 3 good days just to cut and buff if your good. honestly about a month should be plenty of time.
it could be that he probably has cars lined up, or he might be packed with work, you never know. if you go to the shop and see him sitting on his ***, then there's something wrong.. did you leave any goodies in the car? it could be, but im not implying, but they could be taking their sweet time to swap some parts.. i knew a body shop that was changing parts like dizzy's, mc's and all kinds of ****... but if it takes too long, just have a talk with him. he's a business man, he should know how he conducts it.
I would suggest trying to talk to him in person, have him set a reasonable completion date. But telling him before its finished that you aren't going to pay him in full, will not make him speed up the process.
You will probably just have to wait it out. If he does great work, then you know he isn't cutting any corners by trying to rush it.

is the car already prepped for paint? if so, i say **** it take your car somewhere else and have them paint it. take the loss, you can get a decent paint job somewhere else. he got half the money, and he did half the job.... did you think of it that way? but yeah, take it somewhere else.
