leaking oil. help me out
My buddy finished his turbo setup with all new parts and it has been burning oil since day one out of the exhaust and oil seaping out of bottom of turbo. He thought maybe it was not draining out of the turbo good enough so changed that and it still leaked. He sent the turbo(t3/t4) back to blasst performance to make sure it wasn't a bad turbo. They said everything was fine but replaced it with better bearings and sent it back. As soon as we got it back on ran for about 10 min the turbo started seaping oil again same spot. It's also still burning out of the exhaust. He has the right size restrictor on it they called for,-4oil supply coming from the oil sandwich plate, and a big enough return and no kinks in it goes straight to the pan.
If anyone can just give us ideas on what to check or if anyone has had experience with this before we really need the help. This isn't our first turbo build we've been around a while but we've changed/checked everything and it's still doing it. Also let me know if there's any more info you need I've helped him with the car a lot and know everything about it.

Yes the oil feed line is 4an(-4) and is using a 1/16 restrictor. Non ball bearing turbo. I'll have him send some pics over tomorrow after work and get them posted up. Looks like it's leaking out of the center section.
Hmmm, odd ..Non ball bearing turbo yet water cooled !!!! Try a different turbo or if you can measure the oil pressure past the restrictor? Whatever it is, looks from these pictures that the turbo seals are leaking .... Its normal for a turbo to leak few drops from below after initial running but it eventually stops within minutes once the seals set in, but nothing like this.
yeah that's what I thought when I saw it was watercooled. Asked him if it was ball bearing and he said they told him it wasn't. We don't have another turbo around that will fit on his setup. I don't know if he can measure the oil psi after the restrictor. The restrictor is part of the adapter that is bolted to the top of the turbo where the supply goes in.
Any other thoughts anybody???

I use to have a non ball bearing water cooled turbo, didn't think it was that weird to have that combo. Anyways, i would drop to a 3 an line, and then use a restrictor if necesary. From the research i have done there is no seal on the exhuast side. It uses air pressure differences to keep the oil in. So, if you ahve too much oil it will leak out into the exhaust. Does the car blow any smoke out, or is there any oil in the down pipe? Usually where it would leak out. That pic looks like the oil is coming from up top on the feed in? I would say clean it up and run it and try and get a better idea of where it is leaking from.
This may sound extremely NOOB, but check the 5 bolts (i think it's 5) on the center section. I know i ordered my t3 super 60 off vsracing.net and for some reason they didn't tighten those bolts down all the way. We were lucky to notice it before the install. You said you sent it out to have it checked, so they probably tightened them down anyway, but it doesn't hurt to check.
you can try disconnecting your oil drain line from the oil pan and crank the car to see if oil is draining out from the hose. make sure you disable the car from starting up and plug the drain hole. im wondering if oil is coming out from the drain of your turbo.
