how is your gas mileage (in general) do tegs get close to the gas mileage of sohc civic engines?
I am going to Umass in a year and i am pretty sure i will get a chance to get a new car....do tegs last as long as sohc civics and do they get the close to the same gas mileage?
a main factor would be that no1 does not beat up a civic sohc in daily driving......in a teg, there is less need to kill your engine....these points change the "statistics" that carpoint.com give out
please help

it really depends on how you drive and what roads/conditions you drive (city, highway, mix) and how you drive (redline/vtec all day, just chill), how traffic is (I live in SO cali.. traffic is bad.. )..
if its straight highway like when I drive from So Cal to Nor Cal (400+ miles all freeway) I squeezed out like 365 miles.. i fueled and topped off b4 I left and had the tank really full..
around the city (and w/ LA traffic) I get a range from 220-325/tank... I do mostly highway driving..use A/C sometimes.. but sumtimes traffic is a b*tch... and your constantly going 0-20 back to 0 on the highway and then u get low *** gas mileage..

Tegs will last as long as a sohc civic. The civic will may have better gas mileage than a teg, especially on road trips. The LS should have the best mileage due to gearing.
I drive 40miles everyday for 5 days a week at a cruising speed of 80mph and get like 240-280 before the fuel light comes on with no A/C. Is that bad or good? Seems bad to me. Especially if some of you guys drive with A/C on and still get better gas mileage than me. Maybe I should lower my cruising speed for a week and found out. I average like 24-28mpg.
thats about average my light comes on at about 280ish but i can still goto 325-350

If I drive like a madman I can see 20mpg and if I drive like my mother I'll see 32+mpg. I average 25-28mpg or about 250-280 miles before I decide to fill up(usually 10 gallons).
i get about 230 miles when i fill up 9.5 gallons which is about 24mpg in los angeles traffic. the worse i've done is 21 mpg.
I do about half and half of highway/city and don't get on the throttle all that often, I've been squeezing out 300-320 per tank pretty regularly.
i get about 220 per full tank, but then again it all matters on the way we drive, do you shift at 3-4 or 6-7, thats the diff
i get about 230 on a full tank... i shift around 4-5, and ride in 4-4.5k on the freeway.
I get around 240-270 miles which is 24-26 miles a gallon. This is with the AC on ALOT, bascially on all the time when its not in the 70's and I do basically all city driving. I do some highway but 80-90% city. Shift around 3-3.5k on city and around 4-4.5k on freeway.
honda motors, whether in a honda or an acura last a long while.
i get around 280 before the gas light comes on, granny shifting at 3-3.5k and cruising at 75-80mph. and when i fill up, it is about 10 gallons or so..so i got about 3 gallons to spare (tegs have a capacity of 13.2, correct me if i'm wrong?) i love ls gearing on freeway..mileage-wise at least.

27-28 mpg city during summer, 23-24 city during winter
don't drive freeway too often, but when i do travel far a lot, i can get over 31 pretty consistently

hehe. About 2 years ago I watched a special on tv. They said the 101 to 405 interchange is the worse in the US with like 7 minute average wait time... I remember sitting there for 30 minutes. This was at a time when I was driving for studio city to van nuys everyday.
thats freakin BS.. I've sat way longer on the 101-->110-->405 interchanges... and i also like how NO ONE seems to know how the interchange is coming up (even tho its posted 3/4 mile, 1/2 mile, 1/4 mile whatever.. and EVERY1 decides they need to get to the other lane at the last minute Lolz
