Default DC2R/EG6 coilovers on EK4 - Rear LCA

Will I be able to use an OEM DC2R/EG6 rear LCA to convert the EK4 rear LCA, to enable me to fit a DC2R/EG6 spec coilover?

the lca's are shorter on the dc/eg, so you're gonna change the track. only company i know of that makes rear lca's for itr suspension on ek's is function7.

No; they are not interchangeable because the lengths are completely different.

You must use spacers around the lower shock bushing of the '96-00 Civic LCA to run the '92-95 Civic rear dampers. Some stainless washers of the proper size will work.

This wouldnt work if the coilovers are for a DC2R. I always see good deals for coilovers of this application, but have never seen any1 able to fit the Rear assemblies onto the 6th gens.

This is true; I somehow completely missed that he was intending to use dampers with lower eye-mounts. My mistake.

As kyden mentioned, Function7 makes control arms to use ITR-style dampers on a '96-00 Civic (see here), but they are prohibitively expensive. IMHO, it's only worthwhile if you're finding $300+ savings on high-end dampers that are uncommon to find or are only made in lower eye-mount style (i.e. Bilstein Sport, Koni 3011/2812, Ohlins, Penske, JRZ, Moton, etc.). If you intend to run something common or cheap, it's pointless because it offers no performance benefit for the hassle - just continue looking for a deal on the same dampers with the correct lower mount style for your vehicle.

Wow...those are swt! Thx for the info Targa250R. I always find swt deals on coilovers for the DC2R and thought it never worked on my car....

Thanks for confirming wot Ive suspected.

Have seen the Function 7... as stated its not worth the price & hassle just to fit a lower end coilover.

The search continues for the correct coilover.

What do you all think of the JDM Bilstein coil overs for the ITR compared to say Ground Control/Koni setups - how about koni monotubes?
Example JDM set - ebay

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

The ITR Bilstein coilovers use the Sport valving IIRC (though I may be wrong on that), which is more aggressive than a Koni 8041-Sport. I wouldn't hesitate to use them on my own solo/track car.

As for Koni monotubes such as the 3011, you're going to be looking at a much higher initial investment than a Bilstein to gain that adjuster. Whether or not it's right for you depends on what you need to do with them and how much you're willing to spend.
