It happens when I wash my car and spray the undercarriage from the sides. The next day, the engine shakes for several seconds when I start it up. Its the same shaking feeling like the car is going to stall, though the revs are around 1.5k? Does this happen to anyone else?

I don't spray the engine bay so I'm not sure what I'm getting wet. Maybe the cat? It doesn't happen when I start the car right after the wash, like it takes time to seep in. I think next time I should idle the car longer right after washing.

Thanks for any help, this issue really confuses me.

maybe some water in the gas lines or something? sounds like it's not actually that...could be a coincidence.

 

A stab in the dark: Maybe water is somehow seeping into your exhaust system? Or your O2 sensor? Have you done any exhaust work lately? Does this happen at all when it rains?

 

Exposed wiring finding ground when it shouldn't.
Open up the hood, and make sure that the drains in fron of your windshield-wipers are flowing correctly. They could be clogged, sending water in to the engine bay. . . . .

hmm these are interesting theories guys. I'll have to look into it. This never happens when it rains.

 

Pat, I've been having the same problem lately, but its more at random, but always when I turn it on first thing in the morning. I'm gonna be looking into the grounding and see if its the culprit.

its probably something electrical.. i haven't experienced it myself so i dunno..
