Default Dear Audio Gurus..

hello, I just got done installing a Pioneer DEH-p3600 hu into my 90 crx si. The problem I am having is that my car was not built with a dimmer wire running to the radio, but it does have dimmable interior lights.

my question is what kind of signal is the hu looking for in the dimmer wire? is it just looking for a couple volts to throw a relay inside, or is it looking for a variable voltage that will actually control the display brightness. Thanks in advance,

again, heres the specs

1991 honda crx si
Pioneer DEH-P3600 deck with 3500 faceplate.

p.s. - i just now noticed that my subwoofer is picking up on some sounds that it should not be... i.e - it is putting out noise from the actual motor of the cd player, not the music. for instance, i turn the volume down to zero, and i can hear an audible rumble from the sub. change to the next track, and it pops, turn it to the radio and silence.

any ideas?

The orange dimer wire don't need to be hooked up if your car harness don't have one

for the noise make sure u don't run rca next to power wire that how u get engine or other electronic noise

Your CRX radio harness has an illumination lead, [red/black] it is not controlled by the cars "Dashlights Brightness Controller", it is hot when park/head lights are on, it can be connected to the HUs illumination lead and it will "dim" the HUs readout/display screen when park/head lights are on.

What is the make and model of the amp?

There has always been noise issues when connecting Pioneer HUs to other then Pioneer amps, in most cases it can be dealt with.

Start by checking the HUs ground, if you use, [as you should] a metal back support from the HU to the stock rear support brace it will ground the chassis of the HU to the chassis of the car.94

Most HU's do not have a full dimmer function. They have a full on, and a dim mode. 12v on the illumination wire on your HU will make the unit go dim.

for the noise might be your ground or because its not enough battery or the rca wires. most likely the rca. try using new ones but dont hide them just to see.
