i dont get it?
ok i have a 94 eg coupe with a gsr swap with a beat ls tranny (well bad input bearing) and my friend has a 90 da integra coupe with an obd0 b16a with a matching tranny in it. now i still have the stock civic exhaust and stock intake, and i also dont have a knock sensor. also he has an intake and aftermarket catback. idk y he pretty much walks me everytime. i weigh 2300 and his is like 2450 (gutted interior) and im rated at 170hp/128ft/lbs and hes at 160hp/111ft/lbs i believe, and im not a bad driver. i just think we should be like dead even. what do u guys think
first off the ls tranny is one of the worst geared tranny's and the si one is actually geared pretty good. second the base numbers of 170hp and 160hp are off the show room floor, which each motor could wear diffrently and have a diffrent loss of power due to age. those are going to be your main reasons why. and 100lbs is only good for about .1 sec givin that both vehicles have the same motor same hp and same gearing.
just a quick question to u gsrhatch... its a little off topic but do u have valve tap. i did a valve adjustment the other day and i asked a mechanic and he says gsr's r known for that. i just wanted to get another guy with a gsr's opinion
Well right now is not a good time to ask just cause I do but it just started like two weeks ago and that is what prompted my tear down and rebuild thread. any way hondas in general have a "tap" sound to it. You just really have to decide a couple things one is it louder than it has ever been and if you can compare it to another honda motor side by side then you can really decide if there is a problem that may need to be addressed. exhaust on a basicly stock motor wont make that big of a diffrence, maybe 5hp and thats it. you will find that exhaust makes a bigger diffrence with the more mods you have.
Its the trans dude, If you ditch that LS trans and pick up a fresh GSR or SiR tranny you should walk your friend, you could also one-up him by gettin yourself an LSD, thatd help you off the line a little bit.
