Hot To: Fixing stock ITR Spoiler.
Well i purchased a JDM ITR about two weeks ago and thanks to the last owner, all the bolts that hold the factory spoiler on had gone inside the spoiler... After a search on our local New Zealand Honda forum and Honda-Tech i couldn't find anybody that had fixed this problem. Most said throw it away and get another but i wasn't so keen on that idea. So this is what i did:
First off i drilled and bored out a hole in the spoiler to get the bolts out, and to get out the resin caps that are suppose to hold the bolts into the holes:

I did make the hole smoother and a bit wider than this, but the pic is blurry.

After i drilled the hole i shook the spoiler until i got all of the loose stuff to the hole that i just drilled, i then got a set of needle nose pliers and got it all out:

Now i couldn't take photos of the inside of the spoiler so i will try and explain it. Basically there is a thick part in the wing around the bolt holes. It appears to be perhaps resin and the bolts just sit in these which is prevent the bolts from spinning. So they put this resin in, put the bolts in and then put a blob of resin over the top so if the wing is removed the bolts don't fall into the spoiler. As you can imagine, if to much preassure is put onto the bolts it pops the resin blob off anf everything falls inside the wing...
Now that's out of the way. I hung the wing up in the shed so that when putting the bolts back in, gravity would help me out:

Now for the tricky part, you want to get the bolt and hold the head of it with the needle nose pliers and get the bolt is a position where you will be able to get the bolt through the hole that was made earlier. You want to look up through the hole where you are going to drop, when you see the end of the bolt you should be able to let it go and it will stick out the wing like this:

Once you have the bolts sticking out, put your finger through the hole and hold the bolt while you put the nut on. Do the nut up tight:

Now we need to use something to hold the bolt in so they don't fall through. If you have resin, you could use that. I used silicone as it is easy to use. I basically put some on my little finger, reached through the hole and filled the hole above the bolt head. I did this about 3 times to make sure there was a good amount to hold the bolt in. I used this stuff:

And there you have it, ready for mounting:

Pics of it mounted to follow.

Damian
