Do Cam Gears and New cams Make a difference in Turbo?
I was talking to someone about building up my bottem end. I was going to get New pistons and rods but keep my cams. Do I really need to upgrade my cams for 10-15 psi's?? O by the way it's a 5th Gen Lude.
You don't have to, but everything helps the end result (more power). But if you don't get the right cams it will hurt your setup. So make sure you get the right cams, if you do get them. IMO just save your money, and get your block resleeved for those new pistons.

I am resleeving. I'm just saying do I need new cams. I know to run forged pistons I have to resleeve. What difference if I do get with after market cams and what if I don't?

i know about the crower stage 2 turbo cams..... bascially, they have a higher duration, even more so on the exhaust side to help spool the turbo faster. they also have a low overlap.... again, to reduce turbo lag. there is a little more to it than that, but without looking up my info, that's about the best i can do at the moment
H22A = overlap.
N/A + overlap = gooooooooooood
Boost + overlap = power loss
You want cams that have less overlap and are more turbo friendly. It isn't about lag completely either, it's more about power in VTEC range. Many people on stock H22 cams hit 5500 and just feel like the car went dead as opposed to what it *should* feel like.
