before picking up a motor i wanna check to see if its stolen. how can i run the vins? police or DMV? and if it comes up stolen will they start asking me 100 questions?

 

uhhh.... what? I've never heard of anyone running a background check on a motor before. If the guys selling the motor seems shady then walk away. Its your karma.

 

The Cops should be able to run a check on the VIN, if you don't have that and the engine is USDM the number on the block below the engine code is linked to a VIN and they can run that to see if it is stolen or clean.

 

i tried to get cops to run the vins on my motor and tranny before i bought them and after i bought them but they kept saying they werent alowed to. i tried in fort worth and waco and my hometown but they all gave me the same answer. good luck though
