Default Saturn boy...

My friend has a '97 saturn 4 door with @80K's worth of hard miles. He has many claims...here are a few
1.) His quad4 is superior to my D16Y8
2.) His plastic body panels are superior to my metal (lighter, dent resistant)
3.) His car is lighterweight.
4.) And...most importantly...his Saturn would kick my *** in a drag race any day

His car is stock except for his stereo equip. and a custom "ram air" induction system that consists of modified stock hoses and DUCT TAPE. My '99EK (20K miles) was (at the time) showroom stock. Both are 5 sp. Can he really beat me in a straight line? I'm tired of listening to him.

yeah...I assume you mean go race and find out. I just kinda wanted an idea of the outcome. I would think I would have a weight advantage over him with him having 4 doors and stereo equipment. Now I have wheels and tires and will soon have my suspension installed which would give me a better luanch overall. I wish I knew what kind of numbers his engine put out, but I couldn't find and of that anywhere. F* IT! I should just race him.

Outcome is he may get you off the line but only around half a car and then you will walk on him. Very torquey engines but no horsepower.

If you both drive the same.

My mom has a 96 4 door Saturn, I have a 96 EX. When my car was stock, the saturn would hold it's own.

Luke,

Even if those four things were true.....If you ever listen to the Q101 Morning Show, you know what Mancow says about guys who drive Saturns.

My fiancee has an 01 4 door SL2 (the twin cam engine)

Torque is nice, HP is about the same, but the higher redline on my 98 EX puts me slightly in the lead everytime. But it is fin to be able to put it in 3rd instead of 2nd going around turns.

My car's name is TW, the torqueless wonder

Ha Ha very true. You should hear this kid rave about the Quad 4 engine. He says it 's the best motor GM's ever made. He does have that extra cam over me! Anymore I try to avoid talking about automotive with him because we always get into arguments.
