Default Transmission Problems! Manual! Need help please asap!

Hi, I'm new here. ANyways my friend was doing me the favor by building a tranny for me. He replaced the bearings in a trans for me and what not. Everything came out smoooth... well almost everything. All geasr worked etc. Well the gears worked before the casing was bolted down. It was a paint to get the casing all the way down which was weird! Not sure, but he said sometimes it gives him problems. Anyways everything moved and spun smoothly till we bolted down the casing. The casing was finally pushed down till the dowel pins sat in place and everything was str8 the main shaft would spin smoothly. Then he tightend the bolts that hold the casing down and then the main shaft wouldn't spin any more? It's crazy! I need my tranny asap! He evn took it all out then put it in another bell housing I had then installed another casing and still the same thing! I'm so lost and need help asap! I want to see if any one has had this problem. I'm losing my mind and trying to mess with it myself now since my buddy went home and I need my car driving cause I have no vehicle and work+wife+1 car = not good!
Please help!

Look for a reversed synchro sleeve or hub. I think there's supposed to be about 1/8" of clearance between the top of the bearing and the mainshaft. If there's more clearance then it'll bind the mainshaft.

So thie picture above was a pic of the bad set up, it doesn't look like there is clearence. It looks like the bearing is lifted up on the main shaft. My tranny looks just like that, whats is the tab as well. I heard about the tab being in the way but what main shaft tab?

If the tab is mispositioned, it will usually just knock it off. You'll hear it. The tab should be oriented between the two threaded holes, offset to the left-hand side (as viewed from the above picture) at the crest of the casing.

make sure that tab lines up and also make sure the clip is spread and the case should just fall down and sit flat

I tried linning it up, but it's not that I took out one of the washers on the bottom of the main shaft right on top of the bearing. There are 2 and I removed one and then it tightens fine, but if I leave them both in, then it locks up... ?

You probably have an upside down synchro hub, or maybe one 4th and 5th gear needle bearings are reversed.

Is that a lsd or open diff? did you guys shim it or replace the bearings on the diff too...cause there might not be any clearance on it if the diff.

Dosent look like the bearing on the top is all the way down. Take a pice of wood and a hammer and hit it a coupple times and see if it moves down. It needs to be flat on the top of the main shaft. I had the same problem getting it into my case. Just make sure all your holes line up in the case and it should just drop on it with some wiggling. And check that everyting is on correctly or it wont fit. Theres no room for someting to be a little to high on the shafts or they wont fit toghter.

^that wasn't a pic of mines and I did hammer it down. They are suppose to be a little raised off the shaft like that as well.
