Hey Folks....
i just wanted to let everyone know.. that some friends of mine, has been doing the RnD for sometime now on the 2006 SI...making it run with AEM
and working with the Fly by wire etc....Problem has been solved!!!:D
Here is a vid of the car its on...its a 2006 SI,stock motor,Gt35r turbo..etc

I looked on AEM's website and they didn't have a stand alone ECU or ECM. Are these guys saying they can address the bad throttle responce of the drive by wire?
im sure they wired the ems in using an extention harness and fed the stock ecu enough info to keep it happy enough to make the dbw funciton properly.
aem does have a dbw unit for the subaru stuff now, im almost curious to see if they used that box.
i have wired up an AEM EMS on a 05 nissan sentra se-r with a vq35 altima swap in the same way. fed the stock ecu enough to make the guages and dbw work, ran everything else w/the ems.

First of all it's "drive by wire" not "fly by wire."
Most impotantly, your freind didn't SOLVE any problem. If he had gotten the AEM to work all by itself and maintain DRIVE by wire and retain the factory gauges and AC then he would have solved the problem.
People have known for at least a year to run stand alone you would either have to rewire your car to eliminate DBW and MAF Sensor and run custom gauges OR rewire your car to run a dual ECU set up. A majority of people want a plug and play solution, not a dual ECU set up.
Your freind has done what other people did with Kpro, Motec, and other popular stand alone systems.
AEM doesn't list a plug and play EMS for the 06+ Si and what you see above isn't a true "stand alone" considering it's a dual ECU set up. What they used was either a universal AEM EMS or a RSX-S AEM EMS.
Technically it's not stand alone since it's a dual ECU set up.

its not a piggy back because it dosnt modify existing ecu signals or trick the ecu into doing something.
running 2 ecu's is nothing new, it has been done in many cars to keep dash/ac/etc functions that are controled by the orignal ecu. Hell, Haltec has a "plug n play" for the 350z that comes w/a jumper harness to keep the stock ecu there to control various vehicle functions that are not needed to actually run the engine.
