I was thinking about getting some locking lugs for my car because it's going to sit down at school. They're only Rota slips but it would still suck to have them stolen. Nobody would probably steal them where the imort scene is bigger (CA), but in Peoria Illinois who knows. Any suggestions on good brands/prices on locking lugs? Or should I just assume they'd steal the entire car instead of just the rims?? j/k

 

You can usually get Gorilla locks at any discount/america's tire co.
I have also seen McGard locks at Auto Zone and Pep Boys.

i would probably have to agree with you that if theives really want your wheels, they would probably just steal the entire car.

kyokugen 7 sided lugs are pretty straight. they're 7 sided so it's rare that someone else will have your key and an added plus, they only weigh like 25g each!!!

blah!, kyokugens suck D! My friends and I have had nuthin but problems with ours, from strippin the key, to the lugs sticking inside the key after removal.

Locks may slow someone down, but not for long. Anyone determined to get your wheels will get them regardless of what type of locks you have (even multiple kinds).

That said, anything is better than nothing. I like the McGaurd Splinedrive set that also comes with a lock. I'd stay a way from Kyokukens (sp?). The adapter isn't that hard to come by and most people have problems with the key stripping.

 

Oh yea, back before I had my house (and garage), I had 3 attempts to steal my car (one successful) and 2 more attempts to steal the wheels (the replacements) off the car. I was in a crowded apartment complex, and I guess they figured it would draw less attention to just steal the whole car.

After they finally stole it and ripped the ignition out for the second time, I just took the keylock out and had the car start with a series of hidden switches... didn't even use a key and I stopped locking the car. I guess they couldn't figure out how to start it at that point so then's when they started trying to steal the wheels. I became so paranoid that I had to take the wheels off and put the steelies back on until I moved. Ironically, I totalled that car about 2 months after buying my house... 76yr old man who didn't know how to look before crossing traffic

I have Rotas too...I bought wheel locks but then if I put them on I would chance the lugs being stripped when I get a flat. But then again there's always some fool eyeing your car out there and you'll never know...watching your every move. Becuz my entire car was stolen from me before the beginning of the year just becuz the bastard wanted my rims and and tires. I was in my apartment on the internet when it happened ;0( And I live in Phoenix, cars get solen left and right and even the underestimated cars get stolen here. I have the club, the autoloc and my alarm on...so i feel better whether i'm at school or at home. It juz sux when others steals your ish you worked hard for...to those bastards who does steal juz to fix up your own car..get of your lazy *** and work! Becuz eventually what goes around, comes around...so when you steal from others, others will steal from you-no doubt about that.

I'm looking at the McGard Spline drive locks. I've had good luck with McGard locks in the past. Thanks for all the info guys.

 

personally, i'd just put like 2 lbs. of C4 on the other side of the rims and wire it so that if anyone monkeys around with the lug nuts, it goes off....hey....at least they don't get your ****??? right???
