Problem. one of the joints on my 2 door 96 Integra ls decided to drop out the other day. I go to change it and find I have to change the entire steering knuckle because it and the ball joint are the same part. This is also the case for the upper ball joint and control arm.
now auto zone sells replacement ball joints for the 96 integra so there must be a model integra that came with removable lower ball joints in the steering knuckle and upper control arms.
any thoughts or suggestions? I really don't want to have to go through a dealership.

In a 94-01 Integra, the Lower ball joints are replaceable. The upper ball joint must be bought with a new upper control arm. The tie rod ball joint is attached to the outer tie rod, then tie rod, then steering rack.
If your lower ball joint failed, then just buy a new lower ball joint and have it pressed into the hub and you will be fine. They are about $30 from the dealer.

You don't need a press or a shop.
There's a snap ring that holds the lower ball joint into the knuckle. Remove it. Hammer than motherf#$ker out afterwards. If a hammer doesn't work, use some ball joint/suspension tools rented from autozone.
To install the new one, clean the mild rust (if any exists) from the knuckle bore with some sand paper. Put the new one in. Tap it in with a mallet and reinstall the snap ring. You're done.
This is for the LOWER ball joint only.
The upper only really comes with the UCA. Obviously, someone is able to find the UCA ball joint since they aren't manufactured as one integrated peice. They are put together. SOMEONE must have access to upper ball joints....but new arms are cheap as F anyway.

upper ball sells together with the control arm.
lower ball joint sells by itself and if you see the sticky there is a link video
showing you how to remove it easy.
autozone wants your money bad....
need to fill quota.

thanks for the help all. however I don't think some of you understand what Im asking. Im not asking how to remove the lower ball joint. I know how to remove a ball joint. What my problem is is the ball joint is the same piece as the steering knuckle. No snap ring, no hammer, ball joint and steering knuckle = same part.
What I need to know is what 3rd gen integras had steering knuckles with removable ball joints
Also mr.beeks, where is this sticky you are talking about.
