aircraft stripper/remover , available at auto part stores, spray it on let it soak for what ever amount of time the can says, and the stuff will melt right off, rinse and repaet if needed, also get the stuff in the spray can it seems to stronger than the stuff that comes in non spray form

The aircraft stripper works wonders. You can save yourself 2 bucks if you purchase stripper from homedepot or lowes.

I heard not to use the spray kind but the kind you apply with a brush. The gooey stuff is better.

^^the gooey stuff is good, just spread it with a brush it will eat it all away, i used a wire brush to to get into the corners

just spray it very clean before applying your new paint

i didnt get it well enough the first time and it ended up looking real bad

...paint remover is like $7. It works in about 20 mins. It also works a lot better than sand paper.

In 5 mins after application:

20 mins later (after soap and water and brake cleaner to remove the residue):

And then...

You first scrape it off with a plaster spreader or something. Then you wash it off with a hose. Make sure you get all the stuff that went inside the VC. Get some brake cleaner and wash the VC inside and out with brake cleaner after you get it with a hose.

I wanted all the brake cleaner gone quickly from the inside of the VC, so I lit it with a propane torch...

Don't light your garage on fire like I almost did. Do it far away from stuff that can burn.

After that, let it dry out in the sun. If you're feeling like all the brake cleaner is gone, you can put the VC in the oven at around 150 degrees to dry. The paint will stick better when the VC is warmed to that temp also (if it's cooler outside).
