Default tranny problem please help

ok so i took my car to a mechanic that does work out of his garage. He installed my motor. we swapped the computer from a p2p to a p2e. I had a y8 but now have a d16y7 bolted to a d16y8 transmission. The problem is when the car is running it will not go into ANY gears. When the car is off you can put it into 1st 2nd...you can even start the car in 1st gear and when you try to shift it into 2nd it wont go. I know for a fact the tranny is good. What is the problem here?

The problem sounds like a clutch master cylinder issue or slave cylinder issue. It could also be you need to re-adjust your push rod into the clutch master cylinder. Stand on your head under the drivers seat and look where the clutch pedal is and follow the assembly upwards until your run into rod going through your firewall. That rod has an adjustament on it play around with it and your might learn something you didn't know. Also i advise getting another person to look at how much the slave cylinder pushes the fork that pokes out of your tranny. It should move about 1" - 1 1/2" or so.

cool, ill print out what you wrote and give it to the guy helping me with my motor. Whats real odd, is the clutch felt different when i pushed the pedal down. it felt firm but not too firm...if that makes any sense.
