Default Good luck Scott Kelley!

Trying to qualify for comp elim at Pomona... that 9.49 index is a killer!

Also former sport compact racers John Mihovetz and Tom Schambaugh are racing in comp this weekend

Next year Scott car will fit into a new class in Super/Stock.It will have an index that he can run quicker than ,so he should be able to compete against the V 8s.Scott has always cut killer lights so I am sure he will win a Super/Stock race in the near future.Good Luck Scott and THANKS for taking your car to POWERADE races and opening the door for other Sport compact racers.

Although Scott is breaking ground for Sport Compact, he and Shambaugh qualified last and next to last and didn't make the show, (37th and 38th) respectively. Bruno has beaten up the index badly enough so that a 7.64 won't cut it in DD/AT, while the NHRA has been completely unfair to cars like Kelley's that make them compete with a 9.49 index! Scott (and cars like his) should be able to do some heavy damage in Super Stock (SS/EX) next year!

Thanks for the info Bill, any word about index's for super stock for the old street stock style cars?

Where are you getting your info?? Index is "still" 7.90? The index started off at 8.30 2 years ago until Bruno started getting faster and hitting it. "Run a best of 7.41?" I guess we can throw out the nice 7.28 he ran in qualifying for the #1 spot, and the 7.29 he backed it up with in 2nd round of eliminations at Memphis, huh? 7.41 is the National Record, which can only be set at Divisional events (i.e. worse track conditions most of the time). Hudlow is in CC/AT, not DD/AT, and he doesn't have access to a car to hit the index with. The Lexus is on it's way to Puerto Rico.

I don't understand how this class works but I want to learn about it. I watched them run today when I was out there and it seems awesome. I'm very interested in trying it out next year. Anyone have a simple explanation for it?

nhra sets your index in comp eliminator based on weight and engine displacement. then its a handicap race depending on your index, but you dont dial in so you cant break out. so basically, just hope nhra sets your index legitamately. kinda a weird class for sure.
