My 93 prelude miss fires unless i'm on the gas hard. Please help
If anyone has had that problem with the 93 prelude i could really use an idea. It started doing to yesterday. When its idleing it sounds like my cams are bigger than the ones i have in it lol. But it will die also. If i'm just cruizing it miss fires bad when i back off the pedal but if i'm on it it doesnt miss a lick. Someone please throw me some ideas.
I think you nailed it - Sounds like the timing belt slipped a notch or two. It doesn't take too many before the pistons hit a valve a then you have major problems. I would check this ASAP. It isn't too hard, but it is not a trivial process - I would hunt for an online copy of the shop manual. With driver side cylinder at TDC, both of the cam gears have a mark that says up and a mark that should line up with the top deck of the head.
Short of a manual - autozone.com has some good pics if you look up a timing belt and they show how to replace it and do the alignment.
