Clutch Slipping?? Comp Stage 4
Hey Ht, i have a Competition stage 4 in my 96 integra gsr about a year old.(i did proper breakin period 500miles) This is a bit difficult to explain but when the car is in neutral and then i put it into first and take offf the car feels fine, BUT say if i take off and then stop without letting off the clutch, when i try to take off again i feel like the clutch is slipping. IF i take it out of first and put it in neutral and do it again it feels normal..
anyone have any ideas?
anyone have any ideas?
ummmm, why are you stopping without putting your clutch in?? or do you just pop it out of gear, im hoping thats what you mean. Sometimes 500 miles isnt enough to fully break in a clutch, sometimes you need 1000+ to properly break it in. Did you replace/resurface the flywheel when you did your clutch? Are there any other modifications to the car? just trying to get an idea.

basically if i take off from neutral to first, as if im at a dead stop and i put it in neutral the car launches fine, if i take off, then stop, not putting the car back in neutral just leaving my foot on the clutch and launching again it feels funny
I geuss im a little confused, but not resurfacing a flywheel is BAD when replacing teh clutch. Hot spots are a killer to new clutches. not to mention a stage 4 is waaayyy overkill for your car, not to bash or anything. Im geussing that whoever did the clutch, screwed you by not resurfacing/replacing the flywheel. But im not 100% sure on why it works when you take it out of gear and then put it back in. some things just baffle me.

would getting a aftermarket flywheel fix this? or is it something else? im confused at the problem
Now I think I understand whats up and what your doing. When you push the clutch in it is just rubbing against the flywheel/pressureplate rather than pressed up tight against both so it is heating/cooling differently. Both of these would cause your clutch to engage differently because of the expansion/contraction of the parts. Also, your flywheel being used may be causing this slightly, cant explain why though. If you are going to boost, then a new flywheel is a must, the stock on emay be a bit too heavy, but dont quote me because I am not boosted, nor am I a professional. I am just saying what makes sense to me.
