Default Power steering help!

I had to throw on my power steering belt back on after about a year without having it. For some reason when i start up the car it makes a grinding noise that gets louder when i turn either left or right, after a while of driving it goes away but comes back eventually. Not sure what it means tried filling it with fluid but that didnt seem to fix the noise.

You mean you were running it without fluid?

The rack in these cars is made for PS. After a while of not having any pressure, it tends to start to break down. Kinda not really worth the extra 1 hp gain of not having it installed.

it did have fluid but the belt was removed, now that my cousin is going to have the car he wants power steering back on so I went on and placed the belt back on and filled the fluid up since I noticed it was low. Just wondering what could cause the noise if it's the belt or tension

Well from what I remember, it is not too hard to adjust tension for it. Tighten it up and see what happens.

A new belt can be had for cheap as well if you believe that is the issue.

You may have a bad pump. If that's the case, I have one FS cheap. Came off of a B16. PM me.
