Default Shifter Problems, when in gear -- still loose.

Okay, so everytime Im in gear like first all the way through fifth and even reverse the shifter is loose as hell, it goes from side to side ... sideways literarilly. Im thinking its the bushing that holds the shift linkage connected with 2 12mm long bolts to the chassis ?

From what you're describing it sounds like your transmission is ****.

Haha, just kidding. You're probably dead on about the bushing on the linkage being bad. Just jack the car up and crawl underneath he car straight down from where the shifter is inside the car. You'll see the two linkages running underneath the car to the transmission. Inspect the bushings for tears or deformation. I'm sure if the shifter is that lose you should be able to notice a problem pretty quickly.

I'm pretty sure it's the bushings by the end that connects to the tranny (the part thats held in by that dam roll pin LOL). I had the same probem.

Its more than likely shifter bushing right under the car, they're rubber and deteriorate over time

I think im having the same problems too. and I also think its the bushing/washer at the end of the shifter where it connects to the shift rod. I read somewhere that you should replace the rubber washers with new ones or with metal ones and i believe they are 3/8inch or 8mm.
