Default Thinking about running ITB's

My questions are
1. Do they have all the nipples for the vaccum lines that the OEM manifold has (to the fuel pressure regulator, PCV etc)
2.Why are they considered to be unstreetable?
3.Does anyone else besides Lip have any experience with them on the street (weekend car)

Depends on the ITB's you get. I know that TOda is making a kit (Including ECU and wiring harness) but for right now to get theirs to work takes alot of custom stuff to be made.

There is also TWM but I have no clue what it takes to get those to run. Ask Lip

may i suggest you dont get them.
it seems to me that you are having enough troble tuning what you have now.
ITBs would increase your problems 10 fold.

streetable is such a subjective term, you cant judge by what people say.

You better make sure your **** is running perfect before you **** with ITBs.

Also, they don't have nipples and **** for vacuum...you gotta use a vacuum canister(box). You also can't really tune them based off vacuum or MAP, because there really isnt any. You gotta try to tune from TPS, and your part throttle tuning is going to be hell. Good Luck.

Suprdave - Who will be using a manifold.

SgT wasnt saying that ITBs were bad...He's saying 'HE' shouldnt be getting ITBs.

Honestly, if you are asking about gas mileage or streetability...you shouldn't even consider them.

They don't 'seem' to be, also you hit it on the head...they are using a motec...hah

Noone said ITB's were impossible, but there are so many other things you can spend $2000 on for your motor before you need Velocity Stacks.

When they're running Motec's we already know they're ballers.

Well they could also be stunnaz who make illogical purchases.

Im going to be tuning a few cars with ITBs and hondata in the near future.
i dont think it will be incredibly hard, but it would be nicer with a few more features

Let us know if ITB's + hondata works well.

sgT:

I was thinking that since I am getting the car tuned for my current setup, I may as well get the ITB's and get it done at the same time. What do you think of this idea? Do I really need to get my present setup tuned properly before I switch to ITBs? Won't they need retuning anyway?

The car will really be a weekend toy, although not a pure track car. A Toyota Matrix XRS will be the daily driver.

I am not really concerned about the fuel economy, I already run Sunoco 94, which is the most expensive grade that you can buy in Toronto. I am concerned about part throttle driveability though.

So how much more powerful is motec compared to Hondata?

ask the new owner of my motor. my motor was very very very streetable(my definition of it). here is a bit of info on it.....

84.5mm 13.1:1 compression pistons, clover leaf combustion chambered gsr head at 81mm at its biggest point. slight mill of head. compression was somewhere about 13.7:1+. Toda Spec C's, 50mm TWM itb's, Hytech header, Accel DFI. it idoled at 1200rpms steady as a rock. Race gas? yes. so thats the only place in my definition of streetable besides possibly emissions that would keep it off the street. That and probably only getting 2miles per gallon at WOT.
