there's so many knockoffs out there, does anyone know how to identify a real spoon ecu? any distinguishing serial number or certain chip to look for?
The only difference between a stock ecu and the spoon is a chip inside the ECU that runs a program with specific parameters. A program designed for a fully built spoon engine will probably not be a good starting point for tuning most engines, especially relatively stock engines.

that makes sense. do you know what engine mods work with the ecu? did spoon make different programs for the pr3?

so does anyone know an advantage of using a spoon ecu on a non-spoon b16? can anyone identify the real mccoy?
i wouldn't recommend it... the motor will run pig rich... the maps are too aggressive on the spoon program... its meant for a fully built spoon motor... if you have a few bolt ons then the stock ecu is enough...
