there's so many knockoffs out there, does anyone know how to identify a real spoon ecu? any distinguishing serial number or certain chip to look for?

The only difference between a stock ecu and the spoon is a chip inside the ECU that runs a program with specific parameters. A program designed for a fully built spoon engine will probably not be a good starting point for tuning most engines, especially relatively stock engines.

that makes sense. do you know what engine mods work with the ecu? did spoon make different programs for the pr3?

I think you have to buy a whole spoon crate engine.

i'm sure that would work, but there must be other engines that can make use of those settings

i wouldn't recommend it... the motor will run pig rich... the maps are too aggressive on the spoon program... its meant for a fully built spoon motor... if you have a few bolt ons then the stock ecu is enough...

Just do whatever your local tuner is most familiar with, unless you can do it yourself.
