Default prelude type s motor

i have been looking around, and well i couldnt really find a engine code for the type s motor. usually it'll just list as "S motor" or something. I found a h23a4 longblock, but i've been searching around and been reading about it at http://asia.vtec.net/beystock/honda/preludes/ , and well they claim its the type-r of all prelude motors. I am about to spend a grip on a engine swap, and only want the best for the money. What do these engines go for, or what did it cost you? differences to expect from the "type S/standard h22a/h22a4 usdm motors. Thanks.

there is no reason to spend that much on a type s motor when an h22 will do jsut as well..

I agree. If could get it at a steal like I did back when, then I would suggest it. But lately I have been seeing list prices for over $4000 and that is just plain crazy. For that price I would get a USDM lude engine and then do a whole valvetrain upgrade package that could put you on par with the S-type conterpart. I heard Skunk 2 cams and valvetrain are doing very well..

I bought mine for $3200 last year. w/ 28k miles on her.

Yeah, that was a damn good deal Jason. $3200 for a Type-S I haven't seen it that cheap, ever.

I'm thinking about going for the accord euro-r (h22a7, same as european accord type-r I believe) when I graduate and have some spare cash.. its more expensive but has ~220hp and guaranteed less than 10k miles from http://www.inlinefour.com.

Exactly, so it would make more sense to just go the normalroute and then upgrade from there..

but FIRST get some rims before you do anything else. nobody would believe u had a type s engine in it..

but it looks VERY clean! its nice and looks fun to drive which is good about coupes. 5th gen and 6th gen are the best, honda wend to crap after that and made the back lights funky and too big and the grill stick out looking retarded.

lol that is just my name for my hybrid civic that I am putting together. Since I know no other with a Type S lude hybrid I decided to call it an S-type Civic.. Nothing new but it will definately raise some brows especially since no one will be expecting it.
