Can I bypass a Hatch Vx manifold/cat, with an Ex manifold?
Just like the topic says, Can I bypass a Hatch Vx manifold/cat, with an Ex manifold? The end of it seems to angle the same way, Im just wondering if I put an Ex header on if it will take the plac of the Vx/Cx's manifold/cat combo?

OP, take a look at where they connect to the b-pipe. if they are close it should work. if they are not close, any place would be able to weld you something up. another way is to set both headers on the ground and measure from the inside (where it bolts to the head) back to where the header bolts to the b-pipe.
They seem to be pretty close. The SI cat is located under the front seats about and the VX cat is connected directly to a VERY small manifold.
i think i have read some things that this will not work...but im sure it will if you replace your entire exhaust and get the header, cat, and have a shop weld it all up for you. that should work...at least i would think so.
Yea If I swap the whole thing It would for sure. it is the same length as any SI hatch exhaust so the hangers should just line up.
Will i loose gas mileage using an Ex header/exhaust system? Stock of course, already got a ricer on my Sol

the piping will not line up perfectly, but nothing an exhaust shop couldn't take care of really easily.
your MPG will suffer noticeably, the VX is designed to have the O2 close to the head to aid in response time to changing A/Fs. (the VX controls A/Fs a lot closer than most other hondas, it runs a wideband to do this)
In fact I'm about 95% positive that the car will idle funky as well.
my advice, don't do it.

Well damn it, looks like I have no choice but to cut the flange off and reweld, pay a shop 60 bucks to get teh bolts out of an old cat, or pay 240 for a new cat.
i know it replaces it on a 96 dx... it's a stretch to get the spring bolts to start but they'll go on and hold everything together with no leaks (if you use new gaskets). never tried it on a VX but for what it's worth...
oh, and by the way, running with no cat. smells awful! get a cat in there somewhere.
