what about factory recommended maintenance...?
i recently changed my 06's tires and front brakes (Potenza g019, look for the posting about price and reviews). i dont mind spending money when i gotta take care of my car, but i just dont like to take it to the dealer to have "Factory Recommended Maintenance" i mean really i understand some things need to be checked, but $225+tax just to "check"?
With this i dont mean to offend anybody, specially you that may work in the industry because that's what you do (for love or money) but i have to put this out there and get some honest opinions, thanks.
By the way, my car has near 47K so i guess "i need to go" to the dealer soon...

if it's not free I'm not taking my car to the dealer.
if you have the technical knowledge and experience to work on your own car then why take it to the dealer?
if you don't then..yes...pay for the work.

Every 30k is a major maintenence(LOF,tire rotation,f+r brake maintenence, transmission fluid change, air filter change, and a coolant change)
p.s. new civics don't have timing belts (they are driven off a chain)
spark plugs get changed every 100k.
I am a tech at a local dealer and I can tell you from the factory they put very very little amount of silicone paste on the caliper slides, so you can neglect as much maintenence as you desire, and it won't bother me in slightest, just remember "my car works just fine."
your resale value is higher with a service history.
your dealer will be more persuasive in the event a warranty repair needs to be done AFTER your warranty time is up if you have proof of all recommended services at a dealer.
JFYI

I dont know what dealer you work at, but a 20k miles service is not an airfilter trans service.
30k would be air filter, cabin filter, lof, oil change, tire rotation, lube suspension/brakes,jams and run channels.
