Steering rack and pinion clunking?
Eversince I got my DA, I've had pretty bad front end suspension clunking. Went ahead and changed all ball joints, outter tie rods and also checked all bushings and they seemed fine, also tightened the radius rod nut on the crossmember. The car drove fine for about 3 months until the clunking came back.
Now it's getting worse to the point where I can feel my wheel wobble and hear a clunking noise on take off on 1st to 3rd gear. Again, checked all the balljoints, bushings and they are still ok.... now what? I've read on here somewhere that the excessive clunking noise can also be coming from the steering rack and pinion? Is that true? Please I need help... sounds like my suspension is going to explode on takeoff.... any suggestions other than replacing the whole steering rack and pinon? Thanks in advance!

So I'm reading up more on this issue and it says you can adjust a nut under the steering rack and also change the bushings? What bushings are they talking about? Anyone have a diagram or can pinpoint me to what bushings needed to be changed to stop this crazy clunking.. tia

the rack end bushing is only on non-power steering racks. it is commonly in need of replacement on worn non-power steering racks. with a power steering rack, i think you just buy a rebuilt one if its in bad shape. but you can try adjusting the gearbox first.

you can also check your inner and outer tie rod balljoints. jack up the car, extend the rack by tunring the stering wheel one way and grab the rack through the accordian boot (btw if thats ripped, good sign the rack is in need of replacement) and just shake and feel for play. do it on both sides.
