obd0 to obd1 shopping list
Thinking about doing the ecu swap so that I can do a mini me and not have to use rpm switches etc.
I've read through quite a few ecu swap threads. It seems like a lot of people are pulling there hair out trying to make the swap work.
So my question is... what parts do I need to pick up to make the swap go smoothly?
I priced "conversion harnesses" from hassport. Not exactly cheap. I figure mabey it will be easiest if I can get the z6 dizzy, injectors, intake, etc.
What else should I grab if I find a pretty complete z6 donar vehicle?
I know some people may be quick to tell me to save my time with the z6 swap and to just grab a dohc zc motor. I priced them also, Over $1000 for a motor with an unknown history (If I lived in japan, and knew I had to replace a motor after 40,000 or whatever it is... I would beat the holy **** out of the motor from day 1).
I'm planning on putting new bearings and rings on my exsisting d16a6. Figure I'll do the z6 headswap while I'm at it. Sometime in the future I may do some playing around with ecu tuning. But for now I just want the factory vtec control with matching air/fuel control.
oh yeah... I'd be switching from obd0 to obd2.

And another question. do all obd1 ecu's have the ability to activate vtec? If so do different ecu's activate at different rpms. Do they run different advance curves? If so has anybody piled that type info together in a single place where it's easy to learn more about it.
